Jihadist violence has been most closely associated with the Deobandi and Ahli Hadith groups, both of which have seen their influence expand since the mid 1970s. The Deobandhi has been favoured by the Pakistani government, the Ahli Hadith by Saudi Arabia. The Pakistani jihadists received a boost in the early 1980s when they were enlisted in Americas jihad against the Soviets in Afghanistan. In retrospect, this was a mistake. The jihadists emerged from Afghanistan well trained, well armed, and well connected with other jihadist groups in the region. Two Pakistani groups, in particular, have been noted for their militancy; the Harkat ul Mujahideen HuM and LeT. The HuM is linked to radical elements in the Deobandi school long favoured by the Pakistani government and is a mainstay of jihadist violence in Kashmir and other parts of India. The LeT funds its roots in the Saudi sponsored Ahli Hadith school of thought and was recently implicated in the downing of an Indian airliner and the bombing of the Indian Parliament. Usually reptilian in nature, with magical or spiritual characteristics, dragons have appeared in the writing and art of European and Asian cultures for centuries. Dragons first appeared in the Illiad, where Heracles was commanded to slay the Hydra. In contemporary fantasy, dragons appear as Smaug in The Hobbitt, as Eragon in Paolinis trilogy, throughout Rowlings Harry Potter series, and as characters in contemporary movies like Dragonheart and Reign of Fire. Dragons are often considered representations of humans fear of fire or snakes. Of course, there are numerous comparisons between dragons and dinosaurs and this connection may have been the original impetus for the myths themselves. In fact, there are actual "Kimodo dragons" alive today, but they are not the dragons being discussed here. Cartographers often labeled yet undiscovered territories with the term, "Here There Be Dragons" and painted or drew dragons in these blank areas of maps. In this way, dragons represented our fears of the unknown. However, unless we discover an actual dragon hiding in some hilltop cave someday, breathing fire and flying through the skies to burn down villages, for the purpose of this article I assert that these are mythical creatures, used as fictional characters in stories and myths throughout the world. Methods and Data SourcesUtilizing a semiotic analysis of the contents of the two picturebooks van Leeuwen and Jewitt, 2001, I focused on the types of semiotic resources utilized in creating the written, visual and design elements of these texts. The questions used to initiate the investigation were: 1 How do the visual and design elements utilized in these picturebooks contribute to the blurring of fictional and expository texts?2 How do we distinguish between fictional and expository elements in these texts?Selected images, textual and design elements were coded and analyzed across both books, ensuring that codes were exhaustive, exclusive, and enlightening Rose, 2001.

But the challenge of India's plurality is enormous eight major religions and myriad creeds, 800 languages of which 22 are 'official' languages, 8% of the population are indigenous peoples, a social mosaic of castes and sub castes and over 60 socio cultural sub regions. In India minority generally consists of Christians 2. 5%, Sikhs 2%, Jain 1% and Muslims 12%, which is world' third largest. In India majority consist of Hindus, their population includes more that 80% of India' population. India is a secular state but in virtual sense it' an utopian concept because in a country where more than 80% of population consist of one single religion, so, its quite difficult to provide equal status to minority. So, in order to provide equal status to these minorities special privileges are being accorded to them in our constitution. As taking an example of Muslims in India, have a poverty rate of 43% whereas the national average is 39% National Sample Survey Organisation, 1999 2000. In rural areas Muslim landlessness is 51% as compared to 40% for Hindus.
